MUSIC as a Part of the Protectors of the Wood Book Series
The Protectors of the Wood book series is an illustrated eco-fiction saga about a group of teenagers that save the world from climate change.
Some of the main characters in the Protectors of the Wood Book Series write and perform songs within the eco-fiction adventure series.
- Wendy (lives alone in the forest and sings haunting melodies directed toward people and spirits who cannot be seen)
- Abby (plays guitar, penny whistles, and sings, for Abby, songs are like prayers, a way of relating to the universe)
- George (Plays guitar and sings with Jeremy and Isaiah)
- Jeremy (plays guitar and sings)
- Isaiah (vocals guitar)
“Wendy’s rhymes are like chants or incantations, but they do have a tune. She has her own way of letting out her emotions, calling animals in the forest, working in the garden, making medicines, or even cooking dinner. She sings haunting melodies directed toward people or spirits who cannot be seen. Wendy plays no musical instrument, but she hums and whistles and makes other sounds, and sings in a broken voice. Abby has learned chords and melodies that help her to repeat many of these songs – never as a performance, but as a part of her life. For Abby, songs are like prayers, a way of relating to the universe.” - Written by John KixMiller (THE GHOST GIRL, BOOK #3)
